Week 11 Story: The Wise Jedi

Story: The Wise Jedi

It was a dry day on the planet of Tatooine. The sun beat down on the sea of sand. Miles upon miles of heat waves came up from the ground. It made it look like nothing was solid. Instead, everything was in fluid motion. Jedi Bhima was revisiting his home planet. He hadn't been back since he left for the Jedi Academy. He approached his old home, but something wasn't right. He knocked on the door, but no one answered nor did they come to the door. He opened the door slightly, and it creaked open. There he found his mother on the ground, all of the breath had left her and was lying on there motionless. At the sight of this, he was overcome with emotion and couldn't comprehend what happened.

"What happened here? Why wasn't I here to prevent this?" he thought.

Picking up his mother he took her back to his ship and traveled back to Coruscant. He took the body to the most talented Jedi Healer. He asked,

"Is there any way that you can bring my mother back to life?"

The Healer looked at Jedi Bhima then looked at his mother. She thought for a second and realized that Jedi Bhima needed to understand to let go of what was already evident. He did not accept the fact that his mother was gone. He was still emotionally attached to his mother. She said,

"I can bring your mother back to life, but first, I need you to bring me three seeds from the tree of life."

"The tree of life? Where can I find it?"

"The tree of life is present on every planet. It is up to you to determine how to get the seeds and bring them back to me. Only then can I bring your mother back to life."

"Thank you, master Jedi, I will travel, get the seeds and bring them back to you."

So, Jedi Bhima went back to his ship and traveled to the nearest planet. He found the tree of life on that planet, but could not find any seeds that the Jedi talked about. He thought that maybe this tree just didn't produce any seeds. So he went back to his ship and traveled to the next planet, but there was still no seeds from the tree of life. He continued on with this for ten more planets. On the eleventh planet, he again found that the tree did not have any seeds to offer. He looked up at the sun and began to wonder why he couldn't see any trees with the seeds that were needed to bring his mother back. Finally, while looking at the sun, he realized what the Master Jedi was doing. He came to understand the truth. He traveled back to Coruscant and visited the Master Healer. He thanked her for showing him the truth. After this occurred, he went on with his training to become more enlightened as a Jedi.

Author's Note:
This story was created from the Wise Physician but follows it from a Star Wars perspective. Jedi Bhima is dealt a nasty blow by walking in on his dead mother as he returns home. He wants to hold onto her and doesn't realize he needs to let go to achieve his higher calling as a Jedi. Through the help of a Master Jedi Healer, he is able to understand this and get back on the correct path.

  1. I like this perspective. Star Wars is a very interesting way to approach this, but overall I liked it. Even for it being a very short story, it went somewhere very quickly. I think that a good aspect of it. I didn't take you a long time to tell a short important moral. I do feel like he accepted her death very quickly once realizing the truth.
