Week #5 Story: Adventures with Anakin and R2D2

Out in the vastness of space, Anakin Skywalker takes a look at the computer systems of his ship to make sure the engines were running efficiently. He looked out into space form his cockpit and reflected on the beauty of the darkness with small, white dots scattered across it with stars.

"Beep-boop-beep," went R2D2 - his astromech droid.

"We'll be there soon R2, don't worry there's nothing out here."

They were travelling through space and on their way to Alderaan. Anakin was instructed by the Jedi Council to travel there so that he could act as a security personnel for Senator Organa. Alderaan was a pacifist world that was currently under threats from space rebels. At any minute they could be attacked by the rebels which would be detrimental to the people. Reinforcements were on their way to Alderaan, but Anakin was sent ahead so that they were sure Senator Organa would be safe.

"Alright R2, we're about to land, you can begin turning off the engines."

As they landed, Anakin was met by Senator Organa on the ship platform and greeted.

"It is good to see you again Anakin. It has been some time since I last saw you on Coruscant."

"Yes, it has been some time, but I promise you I haven't changed much, but my knowledge in the ways of the Jedi has grown. I am simply here to serve you and assist in any way that I can."

"That is good to hear! I hope it does not come to the point where action is needed. Regardless, I am greatly appreciative of you coming here and protecting me and my family."

They graciously strode through the halls of the Alderaan palace. It's ceilings rose up to the sky and were the natural light came through the windows and scattered off the crystal glass. The whole palace shine with a certain sacredness to it. Anakin was astounded by the vastness and beauty of the palace.

As the came into the main hall, they were greeted by Senator Organa's wife and their daughter Sita. As they looked upon each other they immediately fell in love. As it was happening, Senator Organa could see what was happening. Immediately he intervened and stated that,

"Only the man who can string together Siva's bow can marry my daughter."

Anakin looked at Senator Organa quizzically and then looked past him to throne where the bow laid. Anakin then took the bow down and attempted to string the bow, but he was too powerful and as he was bending the bow, it broke into two pieces. Senator Organa could not believe what had happened and immediately R2D2 gave a noise of excitement.

Then, a darkness came into the room and the sixth incarnation of Vishu - Parashurama - appeared. Parashurama looked around the room to see who had broken Siva's bow.

"Who broke Siva's bow? How can this be?"

When no one answered, R2D2 rolled up to Parashurama and began to make random sounds and mechanical noises. No one in the room could understand what R2D2 was trying to say besides Anakin. R2D2 was explaining what had just happened and Anakin cringed at every word because he thought the god might punish him for what had happened. After R2D2 was done telling the story, Parashurama looked up at Anakin and immediately knew that he was someone special. He could see that he was another incarnation of Vishnu. Suddenly, he knew what to do and presented the bow of Vishnu to him because he knew he was too strong for the bow of Siva. Anakin strung the bow with ease and could feel the power rush through him.

After Anakin strung the bow, the palace began to rumble.

"It's the space rebels!" yelled Senator Organa. "You must help us Anakin, no one else will be able to stop them."

Immediately, Anakin sprang into action and used all of the valuable information that he had learned at the Jedi Academy to asses the situation. Anakin quickly neutralized all the ships that were attempting to land on the surface with a single arrow that he shot. As he shot it, it divided into multiple golden arrows and incinerated anything in its path. As the ships were destroyed, sparkles from the ship shone off the rays of the sunlight and the sky was lit up with what looked like diamonds.

Anakin returned to Senator Organa, Sita, R2D2, and Parashurama who were all amazed by the feat that he had just pulled off. Senator Organa proclaimed that Anakin performed a miracle today and that he would be forever in his debt. He also stated that even though he broke Siva's bow, he realized that Anakin was even stronger than Siva and therefore he could certainly marry his daughter. Hearing this, Anakin was overjoyed as was R2D2 and Sita. The rest of the time Anakin was there they continued to get to know each other until eventually their wedding day came and were married to one another.

Author's note:
I chose to take the adapted story of Rama meeting Sita for the first time and winning her hand in marriage from The Divine Archer. In this adaptation, Parashurama appears to Rama after he attempts to string together Siva's bow, but it breaks. He then gives him Vishnu's bow because of how powerful he is and is able to string it together easily. After this, he wins Sita's hand in marriage. For my story, I adapted it to a Star Wars setting and made it similar to a previous story that I had made, I just worked in the different parts from The Divine Archer.

  1. Hey Casey!

I really like that you were able to tell this story in the Star Wars universe. I also enjoyed how made the one large challenger into many space rebels. I wonder what else Anakin could do during his attempt to impress the Senator? Maybe Anakin could show off his strong connection to the force, or try and fail to go into politics to marry his love? Or maybe he has to best Obi Wan in combat to prove how skilled he is? I really enjoyed how this section of the Ramayana was told, I think that the battle between Rama and Ravana would be very cool to tell in this style, and then there can be the Ewok party after the battle had been finished just like in the movies!

  2. Hi again, Casey! Although I’m not a Star Wars fan, I did thoroughly enjoyed reading your story. I liked how you incorporated something that you obviously love to create a version of the story “The Divine Archer” in your own words. With that being said, I do hope to read more of your stories in the future, and keep up with the good work!

  3. Hello there, Casey!
This has to be one of my favorite stories that I've read in our class so far. While a lot of that is due to me being such a Star Wars nerd, I also just think this is one of the most creative ways to re-tell a story! You maintained character relationships from Star Wars (with slight plot adjustments) with obvious parallels to the Ramayana. I like how you replaced certain Star Wars characters with the characters from the Ramayana (like Padme becoming Sita). Very clever!
